What to watch ♥️

I hadn’t watched this magnificent movie for many years and it has stood the test of time. Truly amazing and wonderful in every way. A fabulous way to spend any evening of the week x

This is a truly epic tale of the treacherous journey that American naval convoys took in WW2. It follows the first time mission of a navy commander played superbly by Tom Hanks in the Battle of the Atlantic. His highly emotive portrayal shows how much rides on the shoulders of the captain.

I was hooked into the drama of the responsibilities of the captain for the lives of the crew and convoy. Moved by the extremely brave men who risked everything in no man’s land where they had no aircraft cover.

It’s a really good length of movie and you will feel exhausted by the cat and mouse game between allied ships and German U-boats. Really good x

The cast alone… Gerard Butler, Idris Elba and Tom Hardy…. (need I say more) make this essential viewing. In true Guy Butler style, the music and filming is great, fun, fast-paced. Thandie Newton is first class.

The actors clearly had fun and it’s a naughty film with a big smile on its face! It’s a caper and I thoroughly enjoyed it! X

A truly inspiration sports drama. This is a really relevant movie with regards to Black Lives Matter. My 16 year old son recommended it and thought it was really good. If you enjoyed “The Blind Side” then this will be right up your street.

Set in the early 70’s Denzil Washington’s character is employed to coach the newly, racially-integrated team. It is based on a true story and I completely loved it. It explores racial identity and prejudice in a deeply moving way.

I won’t give away the story so please watch this one! It’s really good x

Beautifully filmed drama series with an excellent cast. This is an exciting story with great subplots that keep you guessing throughout.

I was hooked and think that the performances from Octavia Spencer and Aaron Paul were outstanding. Really worth the time, as the characters and suspense are developed superbly well x

Denzel Washington is superb! In this genre of movie, I rate this one in my all time top 10. It is very gory but is rated 18 which is appropriate! The story is developed exceedingly well and twists and turns right to the very end. It’s a gripping, high-octane rollercoaster ride.

This is a curious title for the film and I feel that it doesn’t do the work justice, but I guess ‘retribution’ or similar have already been taken.

I recommend this for a night when you want to be transported to a world far away from your own reality. Fasten you’re seatbelt and enjoy the ride x

I thoroughly enjoyed this fast-paced, thought provoking drama. Based on the true 60 minutes story that is still very relevant for today. Cate Blanchett gives a knockout performance with a lovely contribution from Robert Redford. It’s very easy to watch x

This is a heartwarming love story with strong performances from Katherine Heigl and Ben Barnes. They are very beautiful people and easy on the eye. The story is set in gorgeous scenery and has some authentic gravelly singing that I enjoyed. The advertising from Prime is poor, it looks like a teenage movie/romcom which it is not although not a drama. And the title is a bit odd? So I would go as far as to say it’s a hidden gem in my books ☺️

Enjoy this movie on a mid week evening when you can snuggle up under a blanket and don’t want to have think too hard.

If you know me well, you will know that I adore period dramas. My mum and I had a huge collection of Georgette Heyer novels that we reread countless times… I know!

So, this version of Emma. (Full stop) has had me captivated. It’s still £10 to buy but it’s so worth it. The first time I watched it I just absorbed the main characters and googled Johnny Flynn straight afterwards!!! The second time I focused on the sumptuous clothing and sets. It has a very light touch and is very easy to watch. The whole cast being utterly beautiful.

So, if you’ve watched Pride and prejudice, all versions at least twice this is for you xx
